Recently, Google maps have been discovered to change the view on the map from where it is viewed. In India, it shows the Kashmir map as part of the country, but it is shown as part of Pakistan when viewed from Pakistan! Kashmir is not a controversial land if we look at the map of Kashmir from either of these countries.
Google Maps have not modified maps according to the location of the viewer for the first time. In 2009 it was found that Google maps showed the Chinese territory, Arunachal Pradesh when it was viewed from India as part of India.
The reason for this change is the policy of Google to remain out of the controversy. A company voice-off said, “Google has a consistent, global policy of fairly portraying disputed areas and features, showing claims made on the world level by the contested or former nations and in all fairness, it’s a safe move from Google to stay away from the already shady conflicts between the countries.
Google maps are probably one of the search engine’s most widely used Google apps. The way we travel has been revolutionized. It is possible to locate locations almost anywhere in the world by use of GPS and other geolocation technologies(GLONASS, etc.) and thus guide us through the most rapid route from point A to point B.
Google Maps has gone beyond being only a browsing app. Today you can see every part of the world in real-time thanks to satellite imagery! This poses a problem, however. Human beings have been tendency to occupy land since time immemorial and call it their own.
