A medical career is considered to be one of the most prestigious professions to choose. This noble profession requires dedicated minds and undying enthusiasm to pursue more knowledge. The government of India, which recognized the importance of this profession, had come up with medical entrance examinations to provide education on medical courses to selected candidates. Here is a list of national entrance exams for MBBS, BDS and B.Pham courses.
All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS MBBS)
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), conducts medical entrance exams for MBBS program every year. AIIMS is one of the most prestigious institutes in India to study MBBS. It invites candidates for its six branches across India and for the New Delhi AIIMS. At the present moment, 672 seats are available in all AIIMS across India with 72 seats in AIIMS New Delhi. The entrance examination is conducted through computer-based test (CBT). Applications forms could be downloaded from their website from the second week of February and examination date is scheduled for 29 May 2016. The exam consists of 200 objective type questions from physics, chemistry, biology and general knowledge.
All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Entrance Examination (AIPMT)
AIPMT is one of the most important entrance exam conducted for selecting a candidate in undergraduate medical courses in India. CBSE undertook this medical entrance test and the exam is scheduled for 1st of May, 2016. This examination screens around 6 lakh candidates to fill around 3500 MBBS and BDS government seats across the nation except Jammu & Kashmir, Telgana and Andhra Pradesh. The online registration for the exam has begun by December 15, 2015. No other mode of application form is available and the last date for applying is February 6.
There are 180 multiple questions for this exam with equal weight for Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany. Each question carries 4 marks and wrong answers would invite negative marks.
The minimum age limit for the exam is 17 and maximum age limit is 25 for general category and it is 30 for SC/ST/OBC. Candidate must have scored at least 50% marks in PCB or 45% (General PH) or 40% (SC / ST / OBC).
Armed Forces Medical College Entrance
AFMC is one among the top medical colleges in India, established in 1948. All candidates applying for AFMC must keep in mind that, you will have a compulsory liability to serve as commissioned officers in the Armed forces medical services for seven years after your graduation. The admission to MBBS course in AFMC will be through AIPMT 2016. Candidates would have to apply for AIPMT and once CBSE issues your roll number, interested candidates should register online at the AFMC website. It has 130 MBBS seats, in which 25 is reserved for girls and 105 for boys.
The Institute of Medical Science of Banaras Hindu University offers courses on MBBS and BDS programs. The candidates were previously selected through BHU PMT entrance exam, but from now on, the selection is made through AIPMT entrance examination. Interested candidates who have registered for AIPMT should make a separate registration to BHU MBBS/BDS courses. BHU PMT application form will be issued by the first week of April 2016.
CMC Vellore Medical Entrance Exam
Christian Medical College is one of the top-ranked medical institutes in the country. It hosts national level entrance examinations to select students for MBBS course. The application form is available on their websites from 18th February and exam is scheduled for May 20. They accept the only online application. Exams are conducted on online computer based system with in a time limit of 3 hours and 10 minutes.
